Upminster Police Safer Neighbourhood Office to close

It is with great disappointment that we have been advised that the Police Safer Neighbourhood Office in Corbets Tey Road is to close at the end of July.

Residents’ Association councillors have campaigned for several years against the threat of closure, as we believe that basing local officers elsewhere is likely to lead to them spending less time in our area. We were hopeful that this had been successful, when in November last year the police announced that it was to remain open (see our previous story). However, this decision has now been reversed.

The following message was sent to us by Sgt Amar Sehmby –

Dear Colleagues,

It is with regret that I have to inform you that we are vacating the Corbets Tey Safer Neighbourhood Office at the end of July. The office will be decommissioned as a police building at the end of August and handed back to the landlord. The Cranham and Upminster Neighbourhood Teams will relocate to Hornchurch Police Station in the coming weeks. Please rest assured the teams will remain the same and will remain focused on their respective wards. I know this will be a disappointment to many people and that there will be some concern amongst the local community which we will work hard to ensure does not manifest itself into an increase in crime or anti-social behaviour in the Upminster and Cranham areas.

Please contact me if there is anything further I can assist with.

Kind Regards Amar
