Ardleigh Green Bridge Demolition Works Cancelled

TfL have advised that the proposed demolition works due to be undertaken between 23rd and 27th December have been cancelled owing to unspecified issues.

This will mean that the A127 road closures over Christmas will no longer be required.

A spokesman for TfL said: “We would like to reassure you that the cancellation of these works does not affect the planned reopening of four lanes of traffic in spring 2019 and we remain on track to achieve this. We will need to reschedule the demolition works for a future closure of the railway in 2019, and we are in discussions with Network Rail to determine when this can take place. We will of course let you know as soon as the work is rescheduled.”

The scheme began in 2014 at an estimated cost of £32m, but significant delays has seen the completion date slip by 15 months to Spring 2019, with costs set to be considerably more than the initial £32m.
