I am pleased to report that Havering officers have refused the application for the 65 bedded care home with the addition Brain Injury unit in St. Mary’s Lane adjacent to Coopers school. I had called this in on the grounds of it being Green Belt land, over development, not in keeping with the Streetscene and the impact on the Conservation area of The Chase and All Saints Church. The officers refusal reasons include those as well as it being visually intrusive and being detrimental to the character and appearance of the Green Belt. Thanks to all who registered their views on this and clearly it is pleasing that the precious Green Belt is being recognised and protected. At this stage there is no indication whether the decision will be appealed.
