Cheaper Tube and rail fairs at peak times on Fridays

Transport for London (TfL) have begun a trial today (08 March 2024) where Tube and rail fares on pay as you go with contactless and Oyster will be off-peak all day on Fridays. The trial will run initially until 31 May.

Peak pay as you go fares normally apply from 6.30-9.30am and 4-7pm on TfL and National Rail services. The exception is journeys to/from Heathrow airport that go via Zone 1, which will remain peak as there are no off-peak fares.

The trial will also see 60+ London Oyster photocard and Older Persons’ Freedom Passes allowed to be used on TfL and National Rail services, where normally accepted, before 9am on Fridays.
