Clubs and organisations in Cranham and Upminster
Local Residents’ Association Ward councillors were recently asked about clubs and organisations in our area where someone who is lonely could go.
Below is a list of some of those we thought of, with links to their websites/Facebook pages etc. where appropriate. It is obviously not exhaustive, but will hopefully be useful to anyone who finds themselves in this situation –
- Upminster Baptist Church Men’s Shed (Men’s shed is a place where men can work and meet up. They meet Tuesday and Thursday 9am – midday. Contact via ubcofficecontact@gmail.com .

Upminster Walk & Talk – Walk, talk and exercise without even knowing! Free, local and you can join in when is good for you.
- u3a Upminster Branch – Upminster branch meet at the New Windmill Hall, St. Mary’s Lane, Upminster. University of the Third Age is a UK movement of retired and semi-retired people who come together to continue their educational, social and creative interests in a friendly and informal environment. They meet at 1pm on the third Tuesday monthly, when they have speakers on a variety of topics – doors open at 12.30pm.
- The Proper Blokes Club (Upminster) – Join them for a gentle paced walk starting and ending at Upminster Station. On this slightly urban walk they take in Upminster park and the town centre. The walk is around one hour long and no more than three miles so really accessible for all. They meet Wednesday at 6.30pm outside Upminster Station (side entrance).

Havering Volunteer Centre – The Havering Volunteer Centre is a local charity that will help you find the perfect volunteering opportunity.
- Age UK Redbridge, Barking and Havering – Find out about activities and events taking place at Age UK Redbridge, Barking & Havering.
- Cranham Social Hall, Front Lane, Cranham – Current Activities include Karate, Yoga, Tai Chi, Over 60’s Club, Wine Circle, Dance School and Keep Fit etc.
- Cranham Community Centre, Marlborough Gardens, Cranham – See their Facebook page for events and clubs.
- New Windmill Hall, St. Mary’s Lane, Upminster – See their website for current clubs and events.
- Havering Libraries events – Libraries across the borough have many events and clubs which meet there.
- Friends of Upminster Park, Corbets Tey Road, Upminster – The Friends of Upminster Park have obtained Official Friends Status from the London Borough of Havering.
- Friends of Parklands Upminster – Parklands is a delightful public open space, situated at the Corbets Tey end of Upminster. Friends of Parklands was formed in 2012.
- Upminster Windmill, St. Mary’s Lane, Upminster – The Friends of Upminster Windmill are recruiting volunteers from all backgrounds and age ranges to grow their friendly and welcoming team.
- Thames Chase, Pike Lane, Upminster – Their volunteers, from the community, are the lifeblood that has brought success for Thames Chase through the last 30 years of landscape regeneration and development.
