Local School Streets schemes NOT approved

We have previously highlighted the recent public consultation on Havering Council’s proposals to implement a large number of School Streets schemes, including at three of our local schools, Branfil, Engayne and James Ogelthorpe (see our previous posts).
Today, it was announced that only three schemes across the borough had received a ‘favourable response’ from the consultations, Hylands Primary, Oasis Pinewood Academy and Squirrels Heath Infant and Junior. These schemes will go ahead but the remaining ones (including our three schools) will not now be implemented due to the number of objections received.
Havering Council stated during the consultations that the expired Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs) that previously covered some roads around Engayne and James Ogelthorpe schools, will not be renewed. This means that the parking restrictions relating to school drop-offs that have been in place for three years, no longer apply. Residents’ Association councillors will monitor the parking and safety situations around these schools.
