Many residents will have recently received a delivery of a roll of orange recycling sacks from Havering Council.

It was pointed out to us by a local resident that the new sacks do not have a tie up top, unlike the ones previously supplied. We took this up with a council officer, who informed us that the new sacks are thicker, to enable them to handle glass better, but the extra cost this entailed has been reduced by not having the tie up tops.

Residents are therefore being asked to fill them only to the point where they can be tied up corner to corner.
