Old Cooperians R.F.C.
Old Cooperians R.F.C. are looking towards the new season and have asked us to highlight what their club has been doing –
The Old Cooperians R.F.C. hope you are all well and staying safe during these unprecedented and challenging times. Our thoughts are with everyone impacted by COVID-19, both within our own club and across the wider community.
As you would be aware, the 2019/20 season was unfortunately cut short, but the club hasn’t been resting on its laurels.
The clubhouse has been redecorated and a new kitchen fitted. The Academy (Mini and Youth section) have been setting skill challenges to keep the children engaged and ready for the planned return to training on Sunday 6th September (RFU and Government guidance permitting)
The Senior players, who usually play in the London and South East Division 3, been competing against each other setting physical challenges on the club Facebook page. We came together across all age ranges to create a ‘passing challenge’ video (see our Facebook page) and to support those in need across our community, making various charitable donations to Saint Francis Hospice and key workers through ‘For The Love of Scrubs’ and the King George and Queen’s Hospital Charity.
As a club, we are always keen to welcome new players of all abilities, from 5 to 65(!) into our rugby family. The Academy currently cater for Girls and Boys from Reception age to Year 6. Coaches are all RFU rugby ready qualified and DBS checked.
.
The club enjoy the use of The Coopers’ Company and Coborn School’s extensive St. Marys Lane facilities. These include 3 grass pitches, 1 further Astroturf pitch, a sports hall, ample training space and a clubhouse with a fully functional licensed Bar and Kitchen facilities.
We also enjoy an inclusive social scene alongside the obligatory outings to watch Premiership and International Rugby, with events such as Prosecco Lunch, Christmas Panto, Clay Shooting, Golf days and Kayaking to name a few! Why not come and join us – take up a new hobby, learn new skills, boost your mood and make friends for life!
