Why it Pays to Take on an Apprentice
It’s quite common to see apprentices become full-time members of staff once they finish their apprenticeships. This is great for you, as the employer, because you can build a workforce that has been trained by you and understands the values of your company. As a college, it’s fantastic to see apprentices go on to secure permanent roles within their company, and we have often seen these lead to supervisory or managerial positions.
Research shows that apprenticeships are not just helping employers to build a loyal, skilled workforce, but enabling them to attract new business. 76% of apprentice employers polled say they promote their apprenticeship credentials when pitching for new business or talking about their company. A third of all the employers questioned said they are more likely to choose a supplier or partner if they offer apprenticeships.
Havering College of Further & Higher Education will guide you and your apprentice through the entire duration of the apprenticeship – it’s a free recruitment and consultancy service and the support we provide is second to none.
We meet every applicant before putting them forward to ensure their suitability for the role and the college course. Once you find your apprentice, you will get your own personal worked based learning coordinator assigned to your company who will visit you every 10 weeks to conduct reviews, monitor progress and set objectives.
The role of the employer is to support the apprentice in gathering evidence that they are learning and developing, and building a portfolio or present their work in a certain way.
The Havering College Apprenticeships team bring a wealth of experience and knowledge and are up to date with the latest legalisations set by the Government. We also offer industry days, employment fairs and work experience placements. We work with employees on a national scale, such as Ford and Merlin Entertainments, as well as local schools and authorities.
The Apprenticeships team consists of recruiters, teachers, counsellors, assessors, HR specialists and industry experts to create a harmonious experience for all involved.
