TfL consultation report published re local bus routes
With reference to our previous posts regarding Transport for London’s (TfL) proposed changes to bus routes 346, 347 and 497, and the public consultation they held, TfL have now published their consultation report.
TfL received over 850 responses to the consultation and as a result of this have amended their proposals –
- Route 346 – will be restructured to operate between Upminster Park Estate, Waycross Road, and Dagnam Park Square via Upminster and Harold Hill. They will not now install bus driver facilities at Waycross Road. In response to feedback, the restructured route will operate at a higher frequency than that consulted upon and a new Sunday service will be introduced. The route will therefore operate every 20 minutes Monday-Sunday daytimes and evenings. These changes will take effect from Saturday 09 March 2024
- Route 347 – will continue to operate under review
- Route 497 – will be replaced in its entirety by the extended route 346, as described above
Following this announcement, Cranham Ward councillors sought clarification regarding the 346 route and TfL have confirmed that it will continue to maintain its current route through Cranham and Upminster, with the exception that it will no longer turn down the side of Upminster Station, but instead continue into Hall Lane towards Harold Wood.
Please see the map below, which shows the changes.
Thanks Residents Association. Really pleased to see Sunday service and link to Harold Wood and Harold Hill.
It’s great the 346 is being retained & gaining a Sunday service!
I’m not entirely convinced it needed to follow the whole of the underused 497 route into Harold Hill, personally I would be fine with it terminating at Gallows Tesco. As it still provides the intended service of connecting Upminster and Harold Wood stations.
Overall a positive!
Hopefully something sensible will happen for the 347 too!
