The Arts Society, Havering March 2024 dates
The Arts Society, Havering have two events in March 2024, both held at the New Windmill Hall, St Mary’s Lane, Upminster RM14 2QH.
Their regular Lecture is on 12 March and titled ‘A trip along the Thames in 1749’ by Dr Peter Ross.
Using the extraordinary fourteen-foot-long printed panorama of the north bank of the Thames created by the Buck brothers in 1749, this lecture will take members and visitors on a journey along the early Georgian river from Westminster to the Tower of London.
This event is open to visitors for a fee of £8.
They will also be having a Study Day on 26 March with Sue Rollin, titled ‘Two Desert Emporia: PALMYRA (Syria) & PETRA (Jordan)’
This day of special interest is an opportunity to explore Petra and Palmyra, two of the most fascinating ancient sites in the Middle East, and also to meet some of the intrepid travellers who ‘rediscovered’ these fabled cities and brought them to the attention of the Western world.
The day offers three lectures, coffee and a light lunch. The all-day event starts at 10am and is open to visitors for a fee of £35.
