Ockendon Kennels Housing Refused
Last year, together with my Council colleagues Linda Van den Hende and Linda Hawthorn, we attended a packed public meeting at the Reading Room Hall in Church Lane, North Ockendon where residents were very concerned over a planning application for “Replacement of the existing kennels and dog track with 30 new houses” in Ockendon Road, North Ockendon.
Havering Council refused planning permission and the applicants appealed to the Governments Planning Inspectorate who have dismissed the appeal.
In the Inspectors report he quotes the site is in the “Green Belt” and amongst his many comments he said “The erection of 30 dwellings on the land would materially reduce the openness of the Green Belt, also the development would encroach into the countryside”
This Association has consistently fought development on our local Green Belt countryside.
Many thanks again to all those who attended the meeting and wrote in to object.
Cllr Ron Ower
