Trial scheme for Patients with Dementia at Queen’s Hospital
The NHS are launching a three-month trial at Queen’s Hospital to help ensure their patients with dementia can be more easily recognised and supported. From 01 November patients with dementia on the Elderly Receiving Unit and Fern Ward will be given blue wristbands, ensuring the needs of people living with dementia are recognised from the very beginning of their patient journey.
Staff members across the hospital, including non-medical staff, will be encouraged to recognise patients with blue wristbands outside of the wards, in case they have become disorientated in unfamiliar surroundings.
