There have been many comments on social media regarding the council maintenance building in Upminster Park, near to the New Windmill Hall, and, in particular, as to whether Roy, the council worker who has helped look after Upminster Park so well for a number of years, would be continuing to work there. Upminster Ward councillors contacted the council for an explanation and are now able to reply to the recent speculation –

We were initially told that Roy would continue to be based at the park but decided to check, due to contradictions in what we had heard. We were then informed that this is for litter picking only, along with a team. This team would also look after the other work which Roy did. We are not at all happy with this, and will see if we can get his decision reversed. Upminster Park is a fantastic local park and has our full support.
