Work to complete the refurbishment of the Lower Ticket Office at Upminster Station finally concluded today (7 Dec).

The £800,000 scheme, which began in June 2018, will see a new ticket office, waiting room and coffee shop on Platform 1 (to Fenchurch Street) while the entrance from  the car park and bus  stop has been substantially revamped.

C2c also has further plans for the station, including a project to modernise the station’s main entrance, plus installing new ticket machines.

  1. Whilst all this is very nice the money would have been better spent on providing step free access to platform 6. The article in the Recorder makes reference to our MP helping C2C to apply for funding, perhaps you could also assist in this matter.

  2. I believe our local Residents Councillors have been pushing Transport for London who run the Platform service for a step free access on platform 6.
As it used by the push and pull to Romford and will connect with Crossrail when ever that starts!
A step free access is needed.
Incidentially over the years the Councillors have also fought for a wide range of improvements successfuly at Upminster Station.
Excellent web site carry on with the good work..

  3. With reference to your comment Henry, any time I have contacted TFL they inform me that the station is operated by C2C and to contact them, so as to have step free access installed, perhaps that is why our MP is helping them.

  4. Transport for London definitely take an interest in Platform 6.
I must say I did lime the improvements to the ticket hall.
We have come a long way since The Ratepayers Association now Residents Association campaigned for the side entrance to be opened!
