Upminster Upminster Cricket Club update
Our friends at Upminster Cricket Club have provided an update of what has been happening there over the past few weeks –
Despite the somewhat windy and rainy conditions, Upminster Cricket Club’s start to the season has been a positive one. The 1st XI were knocked out of the League Cup in the second round by local friends and rivals Hornchurch, but bounced back to start their league campaign with victory over Ilford. Our six other Saturday mens sides have also been in action during May and our Ladies XI, back in action after a twenty year absence, picked up a brilliant victory over Wanstead & Snaresbrook in the National Cup.
Our junior sides have been back in training for a few weeks now and are putting their skills to good to use with games against clubs from across Essex and East London. We have over 250 boys and girls registered to play in 2021 and over 100 of them have already taken to the field for competitive games.
Over the next few weeks the club’s mens and womens intra-club competitions, the Windmill Whack, will also begin, and we hope with restrictions starting to ease that we will be able to encourage spectators along to these games.

5th June – 1st XI v Fives and Heronians
12th June – 1st XI v Old Southendians
19th June – 2nd XI v Wickford
