Further to the front & second page of November’s Bulletin mentioning the Council absurdly considering no Environmental Impact Assessment is necessary for 570 homes to be built behind Benets Road, and that the BESS will go ahead in St Mary’s Lane despite more than 97% of residents objecting, there is also the planned huge power & water guzzling Data Centre this Council is agreeing to be built on GREEN BELT land in Ockendon. It seems that only UCRA Councillors Oscar Ford, Chris Wilkins and Jacqueline Williams, who assisted locals objecting to the BESS, actually remember and are trying to stick by, the RA election promise of saving our green belt! The Council have reneged on this important promise and appear to be intent on doing just as they please and totally disregard the wishes of the residents. HRA don’t seem to understand what the R and A of their title actually stands for, as they show little sign of any Association with the Residents. There is a group called NO to Havering Data Centre for residents, on facebook, with a lot of information and images of what could be lost. Do visit it to see just what HRA tragically have planned for our area.
As well as the Upminster and Cranham Residents’ Association (UCRA) Councillors for Upminster Ward that you named, it is worth pointing out that all three Cranham Ward UCRA councillors (Cllrs Gillian Ford, Phil Ruck and John Tyler) have consistently opposed applications for Green Belt development within their ward, as have the RA Councillors for Emerson Park Ward (Cllrs Laurance Garrard and David Godwin). The Cranham and Emerson Park Councillors are currently working with residents to oppose a potential development on the border of their two wards, off of Benets Road.
Thankyou John. I mentioned the 3 Upminster RA Councillors simply because their help was appreciated in Bulletin article on BESS, which is going ahead anyway. Glad to hear there is also support for residents on the Benets Road plans. It does seem strange that UCRA attempt to retain Green Belt status whereas HRA are determined to run rough shod over the promise when it suits them. The RA is meant to be a team – you have a job on your hands..
We would appreciate your support in raising awareness of the care and support services we provide at Saint Francis Hospice, along with promoting fundraising events. Could you please let me know who is the best person to contact about how we can submit content from time to time. Kind regards, Anita McCarthy, PR and Digital Communications Manager at Saint Francis Hospice
Someone from The Bulletin’s editorial team will contact you direct. I am sure that they will be able to assist with including events etc. in The Bulletin and pass appropriate ones onto me for inclusion on the website.
