In her Budget speech on 26 November 2025, the Chancellor of the Exchequer announced the final part of public funding for the Lower Thames Crossing, giving the green light to private investment and construction work starting in 2026. The Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) team have confirmed that this now gives them the resources to start work next year.

The LTC said “The £891m announced is the last tranche of government support and will unlock billions of pounds of private sector investment that will fund the remainder of the construction and operation of the new crossing.”
