TfL update re Gallows Corner Flyover

Transport for London (TfL) have issued the following statement regarding the ongoing saga of the replacement of the Gallows Corner Flyover, which is now into its second year –

‘As we continue to coordinate with Essex & Suffolk Water (E&SW) at Gallows Corner, E&SW is making progress on the repairs to the newly installed water main.

Complex work remains, but E&SW currently expects to complete its works and hand the site back to us by the end of August. Following this, we will need to complete the final reinstatement and resurfacing works in the area where work has been taking place before we can fully re-open the road network.

We will keep you updated and will provide you with an expected re-opening date as soon as we can.

Since 10 May, when we re-opened some sections of the road network to general traffic, road users have been able to use the flyover for eastbound journeys, as well as Straight Road and Main Road in both directions.

We are working with all parties to ensure that these extensive works are completed with the least amount of disruption.

We are sorry for the ongoing disruption caused by these works. We appreciate your patience and we will provide a further update as soon as we are able to.’
