Update on work at the Tithe Barn
On Friday 20 December 2024 members of Havering Council’s Cabinet visited the historic Tithe Barn in Cranham, to see how the works were progressing with the structural repairs, in preparation for the new thatched roof.
They met representatives from the Highways Agency and Historic England, who have provided grant funding, resulting in our ability to save this historic building and remove it from Historic England’s At Risk Register. It has been a close call, as some of the intrinsic parts of the structure were compromised and close to collapse. The thatching is due to start in February 2025.
