347 Bus Route ending in January 2025

We have received notification from Transport for London (TfL) that they are to end the 347 bus route, with the last day of operation being Friday 17 January 2025.

In their statement, TfL stated that ‘It is recognised the withdrawal of route 347 may negatively impact some people with disability, age and other accessibility needs exacerbating that impact. However, the number of people impacted is low and falling. We consider the resource currently allocated to the 347 can be better used elsewhere on the London bus network for the benefit of passengers, including those with accessibility issues.’

Upminster and Cranham Residents’ Association Councillors lobbied TfL when their original proposal to cease this route was made, and many local residents completed a TfL consultation, objecting to the proposal. We are disappointed that TfL have not recognised that although there are only a small number of users, to those on the Cathedral Estate and in Clay Tye Road in particular, this bus route is an important means of transport, that cannot easily be replaced.
