Coffee pod roadside collection ending

Havering Council have released the following statement regarding the end of the collection of coffee pods as part of Havering’s refuse collection service.

Podback has decided to end the collection of coffee pods which have been part of Havering’s weekly collection service. The decision is by Podback and not Havering Council or FCC, the Council’s waste contractors.

Around 3,000 residents across the borough signed up to the scheme over the last two years and this has resulted in over nine tonnes of coffee pods removed from the general waste stream for recycling.

The scheme will end next month (February 2026), with the final collection of pods taking place during the weekly collections, week beginning Monday 2 February 2026.

Residents can continue to recycle coffee pods by dropping them at the Reuse and Recycling Centre in Gerpins Lane, Upminster. There are also Podback drop-off points at local supermarkets and other venues listed via podback.org/ways-to-recycle.
