Local Cranham resident Shirley Ward has been awarded the British Empire Medal for voluntary services to the community.

Shirley has been organising trips and outings for 32 years in order to raise funds for local school, groups and clubs.

Shirley’s trips are a long standing item in the monthly Bulletin, the Upminster & Cranham Residents’ Association newsletter.

Shirley has arranged trips from a day out at London Zoo to a week-long cruise in Turkey, with hundreds of people, as well as good causes, benefitting over the years.
