Consultation on library closure proposals

Havering Council have launched a public consultation on proposals to close four of the borough’s ten libraries, due to the ongoing financial constraints Havering faces, following years of government underfunding. The proposals WOULD NOT include Upminster Library.

Five libraries are included in the list for potential closure, with four of them being closed following a decision at at the end of the consultation, and one being reprieved. They are –

  • Collier Row Library
  • Elm Park Library
  • Gidea Park Library
  • Harold Wood Library
  • South Hornchurch Library
