Cranham Ward councillors clear rubbish behind bottle banks
Councillors John Tyler, Gillian Ford and a local resident undertook a litter pick earlier this week in the wooded area behind the bottle banks, next to the train depot car park in Front Lane, Cranham.
They collected six bags of rubbish (with more rubbish being inaccessible in thick undergrowth), which included sodden boxes, glass and ceramic plates, metal canisters, hangers and plastic bags containing plastic nozzles. Havering Council collected the bags they had filled and also a double mattress that had been dumped behind the recycling bins.
It is very sad that people feel they have the right to dump their rubbish anywhere they like. Almost all of the items could have been disposed of in black bags at home, in the normal weekly rubbish collection.
Let’s look after our environment and dispose of unwanted items appropriately!
