National Highways Lower Thames Crossing project has revealed the winner of its innovative, low carbon footbridge contest, to provide a footbridge over the A127 (Southend Arterial Road) between Moor Lane and Folkes Lane.

The winning design was by Arup and Seán Harrington Architects (under the name Team Horsycle).

Entries were judged on their use of low-carbon materials, construction methods and design, to give ease of access and a pleasant crossing experience.
