Last year 1,140 accidental electrical fires involving common household white goods, such as tumble dryers and washing machines, occurred in areas across England – the equivalent of three fires per day.

For Electrical Fire Safety Week 2025 is raising awareness about the fire risks associated with white goods.

Electrical Safety First is a campaigning charity that aims to reduce deaths and injuries caused by electricity in UK homes. They do this by working closely with Government, the electrical industry, manufacturers, retailers and consumer safety organisations to improve safety regulation and standards. As part of this, they provide guidance to consumers that will help them to stay safe in their homes.
