The Friends of Hall Lane Playing Fields Group, formed to help protect and improve the playing fields, had a busy 2024, making significant progress with two of their initiatives for this valuable community asset.

Working closely with the Council’s Parks Team, a new and larger multi-purpose playing pitch is to be installed later in 2025, sitting alongside the existing ball court, which will be relined. The area around the two ball courts will also be tidied up, including a new multi-facing group seat.

Through the Parks Development Officer, funding has been obtained from Thames Chase for the Group’s project to restore the rows of trees across the playing fields known as the Avenue or Monks Walk. New trees will be planted and some other trees relocated, as an initial step to returning the walk to its former condition.
