Gallows Corner Flyover update

Havering Council have informed us of the following update regarding the ongoing works to upgrade the Gallows Corner Flyover

Main Flyover Works

The structure is being stabilised ready for demolition. Non-structural parts of the flyover (such as paneling) have been removed. Cranes began lifting out parts of the flyover on 02 July 2025. End spans to be taken out and wider demolition undertaken over the weekend of 05-06 July 2025. The construction programme on-track.

Essex and Suffolk Water’s water main upgrades:

Essex and Suffolk Water have erected scaffolding and noise barriers adjacent to their compound on A127. Excavation of trenches will commence on Monday 07 July 2025.

Current Issues

The most significant traffic congestion is focused at:

  • A12 Colchester Road westbound on approach to Gallows including Gooshays Drive/Gubbins Lane
  • A127 junction with Ardleigh Green Road/Squirrels Heath Road
  • B175 Havering Road junction with Lower Bedfords Road
  • Ring Road between Mawney Road and North Street
  • Delays being experienced for council refuse collection activities
  • Unauthorised use of bus lane reducing. Transport for London (TfL) and Costain are strengthening enforcement signage on approaches
  • Undertaking further review of pedestrian signage and wayfinding
  • Traffic management being reviewed now that traffic patterns are beginning to settle down

Residents and businesses continue to be advised to avoid the area, travel off-peak, and follow signed diversion routes where possible.
