Lower Thames Crossing Consultion – Council Response backs Location A
With responses due in by 24th March on the Lower Thames Crossing Consultation, Havering Council has submitted a detailed response which reiterates its strong support for Location/Option A (a crossing alongside the existing location at Dartford) and registers its concerns over the Highways Agency preferred route (Location/Option C) which would impact on Upminster and Cranham.
The response confirms the Council’s 2013 stance that a new crossing should be provided close to the existing crossing (Location/Option A) because the Council is committed to protecting the Green Belt and this location would avoid routes to/from the crossing passing through the Green Belt. Also, a new crossing here (Location/Option A) would be the most deliverable and least costly option.
Also included are the concerns raised by the Thames Chase Community Forest which highlights the potential adverse implications associated with Location/Option C on the environment, landscape and recreation provision.
