Lower Thames Crossing Development Consent Order update

With reference to our previous posts concerning the proposed new Lower Thames Crossing (LTC), the Development Consent Order (DCO) Examination ended on 20 December 2023.

The Planning Inspectorate now have three months to consider the application and make their recommendation (which is not publicly disclosed at the time) to the Secretary of State for Transport, as to whether the LTC should be granted planning permission.

The Secretary of State then has three months to make a decision on the application, with a six-week period after this for any legal challenges to be launched.

This means that, pending any legal challenges, the decision should be made by the end of June 2024.
