Following our recent post regarding the granting of a development consent for the proposed Lower Thames Crossing, National Highways have announced that now that they have the legal powers to build and operate the new road, they will be working with the government to secure funding.

The type of finance that this will involve will be decided by the government, and when it is in place, a decision will be made on the timings for the start of the main construction phase. Some minor works may begin in 2025, with anticipated construction taking six years.
