With reference to our previous posts concerning proposals for a new quarry to the west of Berwick Pond Road, Residents’ Association councillors understand that the number of responses to the Council’s Planning Department in relation to the quarry application is extensive, and almost entirely against.

The indication is that the planning decision is likely to be taken in January 2025. The Planning Department will use their delegated powers if refusing the application.

However, if the Officer recommends it for approval, it will be brought before the Strategic Planning Committee under the call-in process, at which point there will be an opportunity for Councillors from the three affected wards of Upminster, Hacton, and Rainham & Wennington, to make  representations.
