National Highways and Historic England sign Memorandum of Understanding
On Monday 02 June 2025, National Highways and Historic England attended the Tithe Barn in Upminster, to sign a Memorandum of Understanding. The agreement sets out how the two organisations will work together to conserve and enhance sites of heritage significance alongside motorways and major A roads, and applies throughout the country.
Upminster Tithe Barn was chosen for the location of this important event, as (working with Havering Council – who own the Tithe Barn) its restoration is an example of the kind of partnership the agreement is designed to promote, having been funded with help from National Highways Designated Funds.
