Network Rail trackside vegetation and tree removal
Recently, some local residents who back onto railway lines have received a letter from Network Rail stating that they will be undertaking trackside vegetation and tree removal in the Upminster area between now and March 2022.
Residents’ Association councillors contacted Network Rail to find out more about the proposals and received the following reply –
‘Thank you for contacting Network Rail regarding the removal of trees and vegetation from Upminster.
We’re still finalising the details for this year’s vegetation management programme. As soon as we have a date for the work in Upminster. we’ll let you know. Before we carry out any work, we’ll conduct an ecological survey to ensure we won’t damage or endanger sensitive species or habitats.
We understand your concerns for the environment and the impact the removal of these trees may have. We will not remove any trees unnecessarily – only those which could cause a safety issue for the railway.
We will be contacting residents to arrange a community meeting to discuss any concerns or questions you may have. We’ll send you more details about this nearer the time.
Thanks again for contacting us, and please be assured that all your concerns have been passed to the relevant teams.’
We will highlight any new information we receive on this website and in the Bulletin.
