Network Rail Tree Felling on the Romford to Upminster Line
We have been informed that residents whose homes back onto the Romford to Upminster rail line have received letters notifying them that Network Rail will be undertaking tree felling and vegetation removal work on weekday nights for the first three weeks in July. This is to reduce the risks of trees or branches falling onto the line.
The times of the work are varied but run throughout the night starting from 10.20pm to 12.30am and finishing between 5 and 6am.
Our understanding is that Network Rail are allowed to do this work at night and at any time of the year (including bird nesting season), but Residents’ Association councillors are concerned that the disruption to residents sleep is unjustified in this case and that the work could be undertaken either at weekends or with much earlier start/finish times (such as finishing by midnight).
We have taken this up with Network Rail and will keep residents informed of any updates via this website.
