New School Street consultations announced
Havering Council have announced that they will be holding public consultations on new proposals to introduce School Streets in 14 of the borough’s schools, including Hall Mead Academy, Engayne Primary and James Ogelthorpe Primary in Cranham and Upminster.
The schemes propose to close roads in the areas around each school to non-essential vehicles at opening and closing times, to improve safety, reduce the number of journeys made to the school by car and improve air quality.
In 2020, similar schemes were proposed and rejected in the latter two schools, although a further one in the streets around Branfil School was agreed and is in operation.
The consultations will run from 18 October until 07 November 2021. We will give information on how to take part in the consultations for each school, when Havering Council release further details.
