Planning application in St. Mary’s Lane refused

Havering Council’s Planning Department have announced that the planning application for Erection of Acquired Brain Injury Unit and 8 x Single Storey, 3-bed, and 1 x Single storey, 2-bed dwellings, with associated access, landscaping, parking and infrastructure.’ (P0928.22) at the former Ruskins site in St. Mary’s Lane, Upminster (next to Coopers Coborn School), has been refused.

There are six reasons for refusal shown, including that the ‘proposed development would have a harmful impact on the character and appearance of the green belt by taking 0.6ha of open space which is open and rural in character and introducing forms of development which would be detrimental to the character and appearance of the green belt and reduce the openness.’
