Severn Drive resurfacing works
Havering Council are to resurface Severn Drive in Cranham in June 2025, with parts of the road closed to through traffic at various times during the works.
The planned dates are as below, with all works taking place between 9.30am – 3pm.
- Phase 1 – Wednesday 11 June
- Phase 2 – Thursday 12 June
- Phase 3 – Friday 13 June
- Phase 4 – Monday 16 June
To facilitate the works, waste collections on Thursday 12 June 2025 will be collected prior to 8am. Residents affected should ensure that their rubbish and recycling is ready for collection by 7am.
Should the works be delayed due to bad weather or a mechanical issue, signs will be put up with information of revised dates.
Can someone explain the road markings at top end severn drive as some yellow lines not even continue with a large gap outside one house alone
Also can anything be done about speeding motorist alone this road
Ie making ut a 20mph road
Peter,
Re the markings, there could be a number of reasons for this, such as waiting for disabled bays to be added or even that a vehicle was parked there when the road markings were painted. Either way, the council should come back and finish anything outstanding. I will keep an eye on this to make sure it is done.
Re the suggestion to make it a 20mph zone, this is something that could be considered but will the sort of people who ignore a 30mph limit respect a 20mph limit, without further measures such as speed humps etc.?
Transport for London (TfL), who provide the funding to local authorities for such measures, will normally only agree if there are accident statistics that confirm the need. Fortunately, using the crashmap.co.uk website, there are no recorded injury accidents shown in Severn Drive in the last five years of available data.
