Thefts from vans
Even though we live in a relatively safe area, our local police teams often send out information on preventing crime. However, a resident of the Cathedral Estate contacted us direct to tell us about something that she saw from her own front window.
”Two days ago I watched in broad daylight a man’s van was almost broken into. I was watching from my sofa. The speed they attempted this was quite unbelievable. Luckily they didn’t obtain access, but when I went to see the owner of the van to tell him what I had seen, he noticed a big hole by his locks, so I advised him to reverse his van up the drive just to safe. This happened around 11am on a Monday morning.
I couldn’t believe what in had seen. I thought I would send you just a little note to use in the Bulletin,,to workmen in the area, to make sure their vans are locked and secure and the van’s alarm to be switched on, as the speed of this showed that vehicles are not safe even for as little as 15 seconds.”
