Save Our Police Stations

Radical plans to close Hornchurch and Rainham Police Stations, along with eight Safer Neighbourhood Police Offices, including our Upminster, Corbets Tey branch, have been published by the Mayor of London. Given the ongoing challenges associated with the tri-borough policing scheme and poor response times, these proposals will undoubtedly stretch police presence even more and are unacceptable. The proposed closures signify a fundamental change to policing strategy and is likely to undermine the safety of our residents. Residents are urged to respond to the consultation, either on-line or in writing to lodge concerns. The consultation can be viewed at HERE  or by email comments to Consultation@mopac.london.gov.uk.

The consultation concludes on October 6th.

The proposals include the disposal of:

* the police office in Station Lane, Havering

* partnership with St George’s Church, Romford

* Hornchurch Police Station

* Rainham Police Station

* Safer neighbourhood base at Roneo Corner

* Safer neighbourhood base at Tadworth Parade, Elm Park

* Safer neighbourhood base, Collier Row Road, Romford

* Safer neighbourhood base, North Street, Romford

* Safer neighbourhood base, Tudor House, Balgores Square, Romford

* Safer neighbourhood base, Straight Road, Harold Hill

* Safer neighbourhood base, Corbets Tey Road, Upminster

* Safer neighbourhood base, Station Road, Romford.

The consultation finishes on October 6th.

Cllr Clarence Barrett (Cranham RA) said: “Given the ongoing challenges associated with the tri-borough policing scheme and response times, these further proposals are likely to stretch police presence in Havering even more. The proposed closures represent a fundamental change to our policing strategy and will undermine the safety of our residents. I would urge residents to respond to the consultation, either on-line or in writing.

  1. I reported recently to the police that a burglar alarm was sounding in a neighbours house. The response was “please check if you can see evidence of a break in”. In a world which has been brought into financial disasters by people making billions, why do we have to pay for their crooked practices by reducing our police force.
    Back to Victorian values!
