TfL proposed changes to bus routes 346, 347 and 497

Transport for London (TfL) are proposing to extend bus route 497 to provide a direct link between Harold Wood and Upminster. This would provide a useful North/South connection with public transport access to the Elizabeth Line. However, TFL have stated that if the extended route 497 is implemented, routes 346 and 347 would no longer run.

We appreciate that these proposed changes may impact on your travel needs and would encourage anyone affected to complete the TFL consultation, which runs until the 16th April 2023.

The consultation can be accessed via the website at haveyoursay.tfl.gov.uk/bus-routes-346-347-497 .

  1. What time is the proposed new route on the 497 to Upminster from Harold Wood what time will it start and what time will it finish? What day will the new service start? I’ve heard it’s going to be the 8th of March is this correct and is it going to run every 20 minutes or every half an hour?

  2. Dear David,

The extended Route 346 will take over from the 497. Please see our update on the result of the consultation – https://www.ucra.co.uk/tfl-consultation-report-published-re-local-bus-routes/ .

I cannot find details yet that answer your questions, but believe that the new route will start on 09 March 24.

I would recommend searching for ‘tfl route 346’ on a search engine nearer the time, which will hopefully provide a link that will show the timetable etc.

    Cllr John Tyler
