Ancient and Veteran Tree Survey

Havering Council has received funding from the government and the Mayor of London to carry out an Ancient and Veteran Tree Survey across the borough.

As part of this, they have an Ancient and Veteran Tree Map, where people can see locations, species information and pictures of the currently recorded trees.

For further information and to complete a survey to provide feedback on the map visit Havering Ancient and Veteran Tree Map Feedback Survey .

  1. I have just had a quick look at this and as far as I can tell it is all oaks. But there is an Ancient Tree Inventory of the Woodland Trust which has a bigger variety. It shows two oaks on Hall Lane, whereas this map has three. The Woodland Trust map shows trees which are ancient, veteran or notable (I think the giant redwoods in Havering are “notable”, not veteran). It also uses a minus sign to show which trees are on private land. https://ati.woodlandtrust.org.uk/ To find the map, click on Tree Search – See the map.
Is there no communication between these two organizations? I am not sure what kind of feedback is wanted.
