Annual Council Meeting important announcements
At last night’s Annual Meeting of Havering Council, Councillor John Mylod was elected as the new Mayor for Havering. The Chair and Deputy of each council committee were also elected for the year 2020/21. Details of these and other appointments can be found on the Annual Meeting Agenda and Decisions link.
At the same meeting, the Leader of the Council, Councillor Damien White, announced that the current Administration will be working with residents to determine when to bring back parking charges. He also suggested that the Administration are are looking at discounting parking charges further for those people using the online parking app.
The Upminster and Cranham Residents’ Association (UCRA) councillors will ensure that the campaign to bring back the free 30-minute parking to the Upminster and Hornchurch public car parks is once again highlighted, and scrutinise any proposals put forward by the Conservative Administration, to ensure that they meet the needs of the people and businesses in our area.
The Council’s Leader also announced that Romford Market will be permanently held on every Sunday, as well as the current Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
They will also be following the UCRA lead, by launching a Shop Local campaign.
