Dormant Asset Fund consultation
The Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport are currently running a public consultation on what should happen to £738 million of dormant assets.
Presently, such money can be spent on any of three causes – youth, financial inclusion or social investment. The Government is seeking views on whether this should change.
For further details and to participate in the consultation see the Dormant Asset Fund consultation webpages. The consultation closes on Sunday 09 October 2022.
Question is why hasn’t the money been spent???
Dear Simon,
The assets concerned are dormant bank accounts, insurance, pensions and investments etc. where there have not been any transactions for over a set period of time and the owners cannot be traced. The type of assets included has recently been expanded and more dormant accounts will appear as time goes on.
