Gallows Corner Update (22 August 2025)

Transport for London (TfL) has issued an update on its ongoing work to refurbish the Gallows Corner Flyover and roundabout. It has confirmed that it has reached the midway point of the project, having completely removed the old flyover structure, a total of 1,150 tonnes of material.

The work is currently progressing towards the construction of the new concrete flyover abutments, which will form the starting point for the new flyover. After that, TfL will install the steel structure, column and beams, followed by the final stages which will join all the concrete panels together, waterproof the structure, and finally resurface the carriageway ready for traffic. They are currently on track to reopen the new flyover in September.

Essex and Suffolk Water are also working on significant renewals to their pipes underneath the junction at the same time as the flyover works, to minimise the disruption for residents and businesses.
