Inherited State Pension – Many missing out

The Government has urged people whose spouses died before April 2016 and before reaching State Pension age, to check whether they may be eligible for a higher State Pension due to their late spouse’s National Insurance contributions.

The Department of Work and Pensions have said that around 250,000 people are receiving an inherited State Pension but there are likely to be thousands more who would be eligible but are not aware.
