On Wednesday 05 February the ruling Conservative Administration on Havering Council announced that they were proposing to reverse some of the car parking charges that they brought in last summer, which have had such a detrimental effect on the shopping areas in Upminster and Hornchurch. Whilst the Upminster and Cranham Residents’ Association councillors welcome these measures in principle, we have not been given any details, such as how many free 30 minute parking spaces there will be in Upminster and where they will be located? We also cannot understand why the Administration will not extend the free parking to the local council car parks as well?

We have asked for official clarification from the Leader of Havering Council and will update residents with further news when we have it.
