The Arts Society, Havering June 2025 lecture

The Arts Society, Havering will be holding a lecture titled ‘From Claridges Hotel to the London Underground: The life and work of Textile Design’ by Pamela Campbell-Johnston, at 10.15am on Tuesday 10 June 2025 at the New Windmill Hall, St. Mary’s Lane, Upminster RM14 2QH.

This lecture will consider the artistic output of one of the leading textile designers of the 20th Century, Marion Dorn.  Renowned for her ’sculpted rugs’, this lecture will reveal Dorn’s various commissions from the 1920s to the 1960s, which included amongst others, designs for the Savoy Hotel Group in London, Eltham Palace (the former Tudor royal residence that was transformed by the millionaires Stephen and Virginia Courtauld), the London Underground and the White House in Washington DC.

This event is open to visitors for a fee of £8:00.
