The Arts Society, Havering October 2024 Talk

The Arts Society, Havering will be holding a talk on Tuesday 08 October 2024 on why the Romans could not afford to lose Britain, by Dr. Sam Moorhead.

For centuries, scholars have pondered why Rome conquered and held on to the province of Britannia for almost 400 years. Through numerous and varied artefacts, this lecture will show why Rome really needed Britain and how the Romans tried desperately to keep the province in the closing decades of the Western Roman Empire.

Sam Moorhead is the National Finds Adviser for Iron Age and Roman coins in the Portable Antiquities and Treasure Section at the British Museum.

The talk will be held at the New Windmill Hall, St. Mary’s Lane, Upminster, starting at 10:15am, and is open to visitors for a fee of £8:00.
